Social Development department reiterates determination to improving SASSA financial support

Social Development Department Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her guidance and commitment to improving upon South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) services during an engagement with the company's senior supervisors at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the various social grant beneficiaries, who excelled during the 2024 matric final exams.
With the 724 156 full-time learners who registered for the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing eighty one% of the registered pupils from the training sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means the expenditure national government is earning while in the life of weak and vulnerable young children is yielding a favourable impact in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted essential milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing the issue of lasting leadership appointments plus the lack of staff at most community places of work.
In addition, the Minister highlighted the necessity for community-based engagements and outreach pursuits.
